Breakaway Lanes Recreation Center The doors to the Huntingburg bowling center opened in 1962. A bright young lad, Don Jenkins, was the first Pin Chaser at the age of 18. Don started his bowling love at the age of 8 as Pin Setter at a little 2 lane center named Howards in Huntingburg. Over the years, Don held many positions including Pin Setter, Pin Chaser, and Mechanic. In 1973, a St. Louis native (GO CARDS!!!), Jane Merkley, was the Assistant Manager at the Huntingburg bowling center. Paths crossed and Don and Jane got married. Flash forward to 2012, Don and Jane Jenkins are the new, proud owners of Breakaway Lanes & Rec center (previously Dubois Lanes). With a long and devoted history with the establishment, Don and Jane are making Breakaway Lanes & Rec the new hotspot in Huntingburg. 3 generations of Jenkins and a friendly staff are waiting to make your experience beyond the everyday bowling routine.
